Our AES PTO Fundraiser is off to a great start! We have lots of things planned for our students and staff this year.
Here are a couple important reminders.
-All orders and money are due August 28.
-Please make checks to AES PTO.
-Orders will arrive towards the end of September
-Please share with your family and friends even those that don’t live close by. They can order online and ship the items directly to their house.
-If your family decides not to participate in the fundraiser but your child still wants to attend the Mega Party in the spring you can make a donation to the PTO ($35 for 1 child or $50 for family).
-Students must sale 12 items per family to qualify for the Mega Party. If they only want to sale a few items and make the donation that is fine too.
Thanks for supporting Abingdon Elementary School!

On behalf of High Point Elementary School I would like to thank the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police for their assistance with the situation that led to High Point going on a soft lockdown for most of the school day today. They provided guidance and extra personnel to ensure our students and staff were safe. We greatly appreciate their expertise, professionalism, and collaboration.
I would also like to thank the Administration at High Point Elementary for making decisions that erred on the side of student/staff safety and for communicating the status of the situation multiple times throughout the day to our parents. We will brief the situation with administration and law enforcement tomorrow to ensure that we continue best practices and improve in the areas that need adjustments.
One of the early take aways is that we can communicate more efficiently by encouraging parents and stakeholders sign up for the Washington County App. Please visit this site (
https://www.wcs.k12.va.us/article/1203297) for more information about this app and a link to download it.
Again, thanks to everyone who helped keep our kids and staff safe, nothing we do is more important. If you have suggestions on how we can make our schools safer, please don't hesitate to share your ideas with us.

Due to forecasts of strong thunderstorms with high winds, afternoon activities/practices for Washington County Public School students will be canceled this evening.
Unless, the forecast significantly changes, we will continue to hold registration events at schools as scheduled. However, if parents are unable to attend the registration events tonight, they can contact individual schools tomorrow to make other arrangements. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and make adjustments if necessary.

What an amazing way to start the 23-24 year! To top it off, School Board and Board of Supervisors announced that both bodies would be considering and voting next week on a proposal to increase contracted WCPS employee salaries by an average of 3%! We are so thankful to Board Members for their support of our schools. @washcoSuper #washcoconvo23 #TheWashingtonWay
