3rd Grade Conservation Camp at Sugar Hollow Park

3rd Grade Students Learn about Conservation

On September 6, 2018, Abingdon Elementary third graders attended Conservation Camp at Sugar Hollow Park. This is an annual event sponsored by Keep Bristol Beautiful and the Bristol Chamber of Commerce. Students participated in activities such as river, soil and water conservation, conservation Jeopardy, the effects of littering, runoff pollution, food chains, life cycles, and more. When students were asked about their favorite activity, they responded by saying that they enjoyed making a life size food web and classifying stream creatures. Many students expressed an interest in forestry and conservation careers. Students also enjoyed a picnic lunch, seeing friends from area schools and time on the playground.
